ClicktoFax

Moving your existing fax number from a different provider to ClicktoFax is a process called “porting”.   Here are the steps you need to follow to complete the porting process.  It generally takes 1-2 weeks to move your number.   If you are in a free trial, starting a number port will convert your account to a paid account.

  1. Inform your existing provider you wish to move your number to ClicktoFax.  They will let you know if there are any special procedures or fees associated with them moving the number or granting permission to move the number.
    • If you are moving a  US Local Number to ClicktoFax
      • download the letter_of_agency_local spreadsheet attached to this topic at the bottom.
      • Fill out the blue highlighted sections and sign that document with the exact name and address listed on your account with your existing provider.
    • If you are moving a US or Canadian Toll Free Number to ClicktoFax,
      • download the letter_of_agency_toll_free spreadsheet attached to this topic at the bottom.
      • Fill out theblue highlighted sections and sign that document with the exact name and address listed on your account with your existing provider.
    • If you are moving a Canadian Local Number to ClicktoFax,
      • download the Canada LOA spreadsheet attached to this topic at the bottom.
      • Fill out the sections and sign that document with the exact name and address listed on your account with your existing provider.
      • Submit a copy of your most recent bill from your carrier.
    • Send the signed authorization document you completed above to support@clicktofax.com.  We will automatically create a tracked support request for your porting process.
    • Once we receive the signed authorization, we will submit it to our carrier.  It generally takes 1-2 weeks for the port to complete.  In the interim you can use your free toll free number allocated at signup with ClicktoFax.
    • Our carrier will send us either confirmation of the day and time of the port or a rejection notice.   We will communicate the feedback to you.  If there is a rejection, it is usually because your existing provider has not given authorization to move the number.  Please communicate with them to understand why they rejected your number transfer.   We can resubmit the port request once those issues have been resolved.
    • We will pre-provision your existing number to your account before the port has been completed.   Your number will continue to ring to your existing provider until the port is completed, but the pre-provisioning ensures that you will not have any downtime.  You can start receiving faxes at ClicktoFax as soon as the number has been ported.
